Ilocos norte: An earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale struck Wednesday Ilocos Norte province in northern Philippines.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reported that the earthquake occurred 800 km from the Municipality of Burgos in the province, at a depth of 100 km. There have been no reports of damage or casualties from the earthquake so far.
The Philippines is known for experiencing increased volcanic and seismic activity due to its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire, where tectonic plates intersect. Just a day prior, a 5.5-magnitude earthquake struck the same region, with no human or material losses reported.
