5.3-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Papua New Guinea

Doha: An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale struck East Sepik Province in Papua New Guinea.

According to Qatar News Agency, the US Geological Survey reported that the epicenter of the earthquake was located 100 km east of the city of Ambunti, at a depth of 107.8 km.

No reports have yet been received of any human or material losses resulting from the earthquake. The region is no stranger to seismic activity; in February 2018, Papua New Guinea experienced a devastating earthquake that killed at least 100 people and triggered landslides that buried dozens of villages.
