Lampung: An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale struck on Wednesday the coast of Lampung province on the Indonesian island of Sumatra.
According to Qatar News Agency, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the earthquake occurred 114 km from the city of Bandar Lampung in the province, at a depth of 73 km.
Indonesia is regularly hit by earthquakes due to its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire, where several tectonic plates meet, causing frequent volcanic and seismic activity.
