6.1 Magnitude Earthquake Hits South China Sea

An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale hit Monday morning in the South China Sea.

The China Earthquake Networks Center said in a statement that the epicenter of the quake, with a depth of 600 km, was located at 6.5 degrees north latitude and 115.8 degrees east longitude.

There have been no reports of material damage or human loss as a result of the earthquake.
