6.2-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes off Indonesia Coast

Jakarta: A 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Indonesia on Tuesday.

According to Qatar News Agency, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the quake occurred 117 km deep near the Talaud Islands, which is equidistant from Indonesia’s Moluccas.

There have been no warnings of a tsunami so far. Indonesia frequently experiences earthquakes due to its position on the Pacific Ring of Fire, a region where numerous tectonic plates meet, leading to frequent volcanic and seismic activity.
