Rajasthan: Six people were killed in a fire that broke out in a hospital in Rajasthan, western India. Indian authorities said a fire broke out late at night at Sawai Man Singh Hospital (SMS) in the state, killing six patients.
According to Qatar News Agency, the fire was suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit at the hospital. Authorities reported that 11 patients were in the intensive care unit when the fire broke out; five of them were rescued but remain under care.
Last year, 10 newborn babies were killed in a fire at a hospital in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand.
