A 4.1 magnitude earthquake strikes the state of Malatya, southeastern Turkey

An earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale struck the state of Malatya in southeastern Turkey this morning.

The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Administration (AFAD) said in a statement that the earthquake occurred at 8:44 a.m. local time, and its epicenter was in the Battalazi region of the state and was at a depth of seven kilometers below the surface of the earth.

The Disaster Management Department indicated in its statement that no loss of life or property has been reported so far.

According to the Disaster Management Department, the earthquake comes in the context of an ongoing phenomenon of earthquakes in Turkey, as the country is located in a geologically active area, making it vulnerable to earthquakes from time to time./End
