Afghanistan Humanitarian Partners Workshop Concludes Successfully

Doha: The Afghanistan Humanitarian Partners Workshop, co-organized by the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) and the Gates Foundation, wrapped up. The workshop saw the participation of representatives from government institutions, United Nations (UN) agencies, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, international NGOs, and donors.

According to Qatar News Agency, QRCS issued a press release on Wednesday detailing the objectives of the workshop. These included sharing key updates from the polio programme and the broader humanitarian situation in Afghanistan, discussing revisions made to the monthly reporting form, and planning the expansion of outreach activities in polio priority areas for 2026.

In his remarks, Assistant Secretary-General for Relief and International Development at QRCS, Mohamed Bader Al Sada, emphasized QRCS's long-standing commitment to Afghanistan. He noted that QRCS has been collaborating with national and international partners to support health services, strengthen community resilience, and ensure humanitarian assistance reaches those most in need, particularly women, children, and vulnerable populations.

Al Sada stated that health is viewed not only as a humanitarian priority but also as a foundation for dignity, stability, and development. He highlighted QRCS's continued investment in health interventions that bridge emergency response and longer-term recovery, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 3: Good Health and Well-Being, as well as other SDGs related to poverty reduction, nutrition, education, and partnerships.

This workshop is part of a series organized by QRCS and the Gates Foundation to bring together humanitarian partners to discuss improving the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan and other disaster-stricken countries. It also reflects QRCS's intensive humanitarian diplomacy efforts, aiming to promote collaboration and understanding among governments and humanitarian organizations, in its capacity as an active member of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
