With more than 200 days having passed since the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, the displaced are still suffering from its scourges, as the flames and the Israeli machine of destruction that has been killing, destroying and displacing have not subsided since the seventh of last October.

During that period, citizens lived in difficult humanitarian conditions, as their homes were bombed and destroyed, resulting in 34,356 martyrs and 77,368 injured, and thousands are still missing under the rubble.

As a result of the aggression, citizens were forced to flee to the city of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip, which the Israeli occupation forces claimed was ‘safe,’ yet they inflicted air strikes and shelling on homes, resulting in martyrs and wounded.

Citizen Ratib Saleh, displaced from Jabalia camp in the northern Gaza Strip, says: ‘We were displaced 7 months ago to Rafah, and the war is still continuing, with killing, destruction, suffering, displacement, and intimidation.’

He added to Anadolu: “The condit
ions are very tragic. There is no water, no electricity, no food, and destruction and killing everywhere.”

He continued: “There is no safe area in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli occupation destroys mosques and homes and kills women, children and the elderly.”

He pointed out that “the population is dying and the world is looking at us. We want the war to stop,” stressing the need for international pressure to restrain Israel in its ongoing war.

In turn, the elderly Amna Saleh (87 years old) said: ‘We were displaced amidst the reality of bombing, where houses were destroyed above our heads and we lost our children and youth.’

She added: “Whoever does not die as a result of killing and bombing, dies due to lack of food and treatment.”

She continued: “For 7 months, we have been living in tents that lack the basic necessities of life, under rain, missiles, bombing, and fear.”

She expressed her wish that the war would end and she would be able to return to the land of her destroyed home in the town of Jabalia.

The displaced set up temporary camps in Rafah, which are crowded with about 1,100,000 citizens, the majority of whom are displaced, living in difficult conditions as a result of the aggression.

The camps lack the most basic necessities of life, and they represent a temporary refuge for many families who were displaced as a result of the bombing, as citizens live in difficult conditions under their shade.

The suffering of citizens in the displacement camps in the south of the Gaza Strip is worsening with the intensification of heat waves, amid warnings of the spread of epidemics and diseases, especially among children and women.

UN and international reports confirm that the Gaza Strip has become virtually unviable as a result of the massive destruction carried out by the Israeli occupation forces in homes and infrastructure, which affected more than 60% of the Strip’s buildings.

Citizens fear that the Israeli occupation will carry out its threats to invade the city of Rafah, despite international warnings
of its repercussions and consequences.

Israel continues its aggression against the Gaza Strip despite the issuance of an immediate ceasefire resolution by the UN Security Council, and despite its appearance before the International Court of Justice on charges of committing “genocide.”
