In the colours of Al Rabban Racing, NASIM (Galileo Gold x Ashwaq) opened his scorecard on third time of asking, when he won the Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 EBF Restricted Novice Stakes, at Lingfield on Saturday, 21 August. The 2-year-old colt was coming off a second place at Windsor on the 8th August, and this was his first time on the all-weather track.
Trained by Andrew Balding, the chestnut colt jumped well to take up the lead from the off in the mile race. Travelling ears pricked in front, he set a steady pace under jockey Joshua Bryan. Coming off the final turn, he kicked ahead to quickly pull clear of the racing pack. He ran on strongly and with plenty in hand to win comfortably by 1 ¾ lengths in front of DAMASCUS FINISH (Markaz x Impressive Victory).
NASIM is by Al Shaqab Racing sire Galileo Gold, who officiates at Tally-Ho Stud in Ireland. He was bred by Kirtlington Park Stud, and was a Tattersalls December foal purchase. His dam Ashwaq, by Sepoy, was bred by Al Shaqab Racing and finished third on her only start for the silver and burgundy silks. Nasim is her first foal.
