The Rusafa Criminal Court issued a death sentence by hanging to death against the murderer of analyst Hisham Al-Hashemi.

The media center of the Supreme Judicial Council stated in a statement, “The Rusafa Criminal Court issued its death sentence against the criminal (Ahmed Hamdawi Awaid) for the crime of killing the security expert (Hisham Al-Hashemi).”

It added, “The court issued its decision based on the provisions of Article 4/1 and in the context of Article 2/1/3 of the Anti-Terrorism Law No. 13 of 2005.”

Al-Hashemi was assassinated on the evening of July 6, 2020, in front of his house in Zayouna district in the capital, Baghdad, by gunfire from people on a motorcycle.
