Al-Sudani Directs The Media And Communications Authority To Interact With Citizens’ Complaints About Services And Respond To Them

The Prime Minister, Muhammad Al-Sudani, directed today, Saturday, the Media and Communications Authority to interact with citizens’ complaints about services and respond to them through quick solutions to problems, and prevent their recurrence.

According to a statement by his media office, Al-Sudani chaired, today, Saturday, a meeting that included the Chairman and the Board of Commissioners of the Media and Communications Authority, and the meeting dealt with the issue of the fourth license in the service of mobile phone networks, which will contribute to the development of the telecommunications sector and the level of services provided to citizens.

Al-Sudani pointed out the importance of the concerted efforts of the Media and Communications Authority and the Ministry of Communications, which recently contracted with a consultancy to proceed with the fourth license project, through the National Telecommunications Company, in implementation of what was stated in the ministerial program.

During the meeting, Al-Sudani stressed the need to follow up on the work of mobile phone companies, and to pay the dues they owe, according to the law, to the state treasury, in addition to the importance of monitoring the service they provide and their compatibility with service standards specified by law.

The Prime Minister directed, according to the statement, to follow up on the implementation of judicial decisions issued against Korek Telecom Company.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of the media sector and its impact, and the need for the authority to take its role in re-evaluating and upgrading this vital sector.

The statement added, as Al-Sudani focused in his directives, on the necessity of integrating work between the executive body of the authority and its board of commissioners, away from any administrative intersections.

Al-Sudani clarified during the meeting that issues related to public money or state resources should not be subject to political pressures or influences, pointing to the importance of improving the telecommunications sector, because of its economic benefits and important revenues for the state and the citizen, by maximizing resources and increasing job opportunities.

The Prime Minister renewed the government’s support for media freedom and guaranteeing it for all media institutions, and at the same time, the work of the media must be regulated and controlled in accordance with the law and the constitution.

Al-Sudani directed the Media and Communications Authority to interact with citizens’ complaints about services, respond to them through quick solutions to problems, and prevent their recurrence.
