General Press Releases

Ramallah – Ma’an – The Commission for Ex-Prisoners’ Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club said that the lawyer of the injured person, Wafaa Jarrar, from the city of Jenin (49 years old), submitted an urgent request to the Israeli side, demanding the return of her amputated legs in order to bury them according to Islamic law.

The Commission and the Prisoner’s Club explained in a joint statement, today, Monday, that as part of the continued legal follow-up of Jarrar’s case, her lawyer submitted a request to recover her legs from the director of the Israeli (Afula) Hospital, the director of the intensive care department in which the injured person stayed, and to the so-called Israeli Ministry of Health.

The statement indicated that the request came after the lawyer received a surprising verbal response from one of the doctors in the hospital that both parties had been eliminated, thus constituting a new violation added to the complex crime carried out by the occupation against the injured Wafa Jarrar fro
m the moment she was arrested from her home in Jenin on May 21. .

The book also included a request to obtain her medical file from the moment she was transferred to the hospital on May 21 until May 30, the day of her release, and an explanation of what happened on May 27, the day the injured person underwent a below-the-knee amputation of her legs, after the He obtained approval from the family and followed up with her lawyer. It later became clear that another amputation had been performed on her legs above the knee, without obtaining the approval of the injured woman’s family, as she was under anesthesia and artificial respirators. This violation was added to the context of the crime that was carried out against her.

The Prisoners’ Commission and the Prisoners’ Club considered that what happened with the injured Jarrar is part of the complex and ongoing crime against her, based on the number of details that emerged within the framework of the legal follow-up.

The Authority and the Club stressed that base
d on the responses that the lawyer will receive from the competent authorities, the course of the necessary legal steps will be determined later.

It is noteworthy that throughout the period of her detention in Afula Hospital, her lawyer was not provided with a report on her condition, despite the legal attempts that were made, and the lawyer received information about her health condition only verbally during several visits to her, until the occupation announced its intention to withdraw The administrative detention order was issued against her to evade her crime and to complete her treatment. Accordingly, she was released on May 30 and transferred to Ibn Sina Hospital in Jenin.

The occupation authorities had arrested Jarrar from her home on May 21 during their aggression against Jenin and its camp. They later announced her injury, transferred her to the Israeli Afula Hospital, and issued an administrative detention order against her for a period of four months, as the serious injuries to which she was expo
sed led to the amputation of both of her legs. above the knee, in addition to a number of injuries to her body, and the health problems that resulted from that.

The authority and the club confirmed that the suffering of the injured Jarrar, who was subjected to a complex crime from the moment of her arrest, did not end once she was released, so that she would be a new witness to the level of the ongoing criminality of the occupation in the context of the ongoing war of genocide and comprehensive aggression against our people.

The authority and the club once again held the occupation fully responsible for the serious health condition of detainee Wafa Jarrar, who is one of dozens of detainees who have been subjected to injuries since the start of the genocide war. Later, the occupation did not stop at that, but also carried out abuse, torture, and medical crimes against them.

It is noteworthy that Wafaa Jarrar is the wife of administrative detainee Abdul Jabbar Jarrar, who has been detained since last Februar
y.
