Arab League Explores New Initiatives for Intellectual Property and Innovation Support

Cairo: The 16th meeting of the Technical Committee on Intellectual Property convened today at the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo. The meeting focused on key initiatives, including the establishment of an Arab electronic registry platform and a regional network of technology and innovation support centers, with backing from the World Intellectual Property Organization.

According to Qatar News Agency, the agenda also addressed challenges related to copyright and related rights in Arab countries, particularly in the context of advancements in artificial intelligence. The meeting, presided over by Algeria, reviewed recommendations from previous meetings and assessed the progress of subcommittees focusing on industrial property and copyright issues.

The Technical Committee for Intellectual Property comprises government officials from intellectual property offices across Arab nations. It is tasked with fostering cooperation among Arab countries on intellectual property rights protection, raising awareness about intellectual property issues, and encouraging innovation.
