Cairo: The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States organized a regional workshop on internal displacement and its impact on children in the Arab region. The event, which took place via an online platform, was conducted in partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
According to Qatar News Agency, the workshop was part of the joint action plan between the League’s General Secretariat, the Social Affairs Sector – Women, Family and Childhood Department, and the UNHCR for 2024-2025. This plan aims to enhance cooperation in addressing issues related to internal displacement and its effects.
The Arab League’s statement highlighted that the workshop focused on enhancing the understanding of both international and regional legal frameworks for protecting internally displaced persons. It also addressed the challenges and needs of displaced children and proposed interventions to improve their humanitarian and legal status.
Additionally, the workshop included interactive sessions designed to equip member state representatives with the necessary knowledge and skills. These sessions aimed to effectively address protection and assistance issues for internally displaced persons by promoting dialogue and sharing best practices.
