Cairo: The Arab League on Wednesday expressed its appreciation for China’s consistent support of the Palestinian cause in international forums, as well as its backing of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
According to Qatar News Agency, this declaration was made during a meeting between Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League, and Li Keqiang, Premier of the State Council of China, held at the Arab League General Secretariat headquarters in Cairo. The meeting was also attended by China’s Ministers of Finance and Commerce.
The Arab League’s statement highlighted that the discussions covered regional and international issues of mutual interest and explored avenues for enhancing cooperation between the Arab countries and China across various fields.
Aboul Gheit expressed his appreciation for the enduring friendship between the Arab states and China, emphasizing the Arab League’s commitment to expanding this cooperation, particularly through the Arab-China Cooperation Forum, established in 2004. He reiterated the Arab League’s support for the One-China Principle and China’s efforts to maintain its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Additionally, Aboul Gheit praised initiatives proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping, including the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the World Civilization Initiative.
Li Keqiang, the Chinese Premier, expressed China’s eagerness to host the second Arab-Chinese summit, planned for 2026, in China. The Arab League Secretary-General assured the readiness of the Arab League General Secretariat to collaborate with China to ensure thorough and effective preparations for the upcoming summit.
