Muscat: The Arab Book Award has signed a cooperation agreement with the Oman-based Bait Al Zubair Cultural Foundation, marking a significant step in joint efforts to bolster strategic partnerships between leading Arab cultural institutions. This initiative aims to support innovative cultural projects that unite and enrich Arab societies.
According to Qatar News Agency, the agreement was formalized by Naji Al Sharif, Executive Director of the Arab Book Award, and Dr. Mona Habras, Director General of the Bait Al Zubair Foundation. Both leaders emphasized the importance of collaboration in the areas of culture, heritage, and community innovation. The partnership is designed to promote cultural initiatives that benefit Arab communities, encourage knowledge production, and develop programs leveraging the expertise of cultural institutions in both Qatar and Oman.
Dr. Al Sharif, in a statement released by the Arab Book Award, expressed the award's commitment to collaborating with Arab cultural entities and emphasized the partnership with the esteemed Bait Al Zubair Cultural Foundation as a significant milestone. He reiterated Qatar's dedication to supporting Arab culture and those engaged in the cultural sector, aligning with the objectives of the Arab Book Award and its Omani counterpart.
Dr. Mona Habras also highlighted the progress and growing influence of the Arab Book Award. She expressed her enthusiasm for the agreement, viewing it as the beginning of a long-term collaboration. Dr. Habras announced plans for the Bait Al Zubair Cultural Award, anticipated to foster further cooperation and joint cultural initiatives.
The Arab Book Award, launched by Qatar in 2023, honors contributions to the Arab book industry, focusing on works authored in Arabic. Meanwhile, the Bait Al Zubair Foundation, established in 1998, has evolved from a museum into a cultural institution dedicated to preserving Oman's heritage and nurturing cultural activities and young talents.
