At a ceremony held in Sharjah yesterday, the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Center for Security Research and Studies at the Police Academy, received the first-place award in the institutional level category of the Sharjah Police Sciences Academy Award for Scientific Research in 2023. The Security Research and Studies Center won the award for a research that tackled security data and knowledge management in the digital environment and its role in developing the efficiency of security performance.
Dr. Al Sayed highlighted the nature of the winning research, stating that it is a descriptive, analytical, and survey study aiming to uncover modern trends in data and security knowledge management in the digital environment and their role in improving security performance efficiency, as well as identifying the challenges facing this process. He noted that the research used questionnaires as a tool to collect data to understand the ability of the Police
Academy staff at the Ministry of Interior to manage data in the digital environment, and to reveal how it helps them perform their tasks and enhance the efficiency of security performance at the Academy. He emphasized the importance of the winning research, particularly in understanding the impact of data and security knowledge management in the digital environment on the efficiency of security performance, especially given the lack of similar studies addressing the dimensions of implicit and explicit security knowledge management on security performance efficiency. He also pointed out that the importance of data and security knowledge management is growing in light of the rapid changes in the digital environment and the various challenges faced by security agencies. He also highlighted the significance of data and security knowledge management as a practical foundation for achieving leadership in the security field and its scientific importance in enriching the Arabic library in general and the Gulf library
in particular with studies related to data and security knowledge management and security performance efficiency.
Al Sayed mentioned that this is not the first time the Center has won a research competition. The Center previously won first place in the Arab world for the Prince Nayef Award for Arab Security. He also said that the Sharjah police academy’s award is the second time for the center.
Regarding the general importance of scientific research in supporting security work, he explained that scientific research helps study emerging criminal phenomena, identify their causes, and facilitate the formulation of plans to reduce them, providing decision-makers with a real vision of the studied topics.
He also pointed out the importance of scientific research in the security field for anticipating security phenomena, which helps in finding proactive solutions, studying the security work environment, identifying ways to improve it, and enhancing the efficiency of security work.
