AU Peace Council Rejects Any Violation of Somalia’s Territorial Integrity

Stockholm: The African Union Peace and Security Council has firmly rejected any attempt to undermine Somalia's territorial integrity, stressing that no party has the authority under international law to alter the country's regional status.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Council condemned Israel's decision to recognize Somaliland, describing the move as null and void and calling for the immediate withdrawal of the recognition issued in December 2025.

The Council reaffirmed that Somalia's borders are internationally recognized and non-negotiable, reiterating the African Union's full support for the country's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, and rejecting any unilateral actions in this regard.

It also welcomed progress made in military operations against armed groups and urged Somali security forces and international partners to intensify efforts to eliminate extremist organizations.
