Doha: Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani and British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper engaged in a telephone conversation to discuss the bilateral relations and strategic partnership between their two countries. The discussion focused on ways to enhance these ties amidst current regional challenges.
According to Qatar News Agency, during the call, the foreign ministers reviewed recent developments in the region, particularly addressing the repercussions of Iran's actions against Bahrain and other GCC countries. They also discussed Iran's closure of the Strait of Hormuz to international shipping and the ongoing regional and international efforts to address these issues.
Both ministers stressed the need for Iran to fully commit to ceasing all hostile actions in the region and to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. They emphasized that such actions are vital to safeguarding the global economy, international trade, and the supply of energy and food.
Furthermore, the conversation included an exchange of viewpoints on the ongoing negotiations between the United States and Iran, which are being facilitated by Pakistan. The discussions underscored the importance of diplomatic efforts in resolving regional tensions.
