Muscat, Qatar’s youth handball team qualified for the second round of the 16th Asian Men’s Youth Handball Championship being held in the Omani city of Salalah, following their victory over Iraq 26/21 in the match between the two teams at the end of Group C matches.
Iraq qualified with the Qatari team to the second round of the tournament, in which eight teams will be divided into two groups, the first team includes Qatar and Saudi Arabia, Japan and Iran and Qatar will play against these teams successively and will start with Saudi Arabia on Friday, while all teams are resting on Thursday, and Group B includes South Korea, Iraq, Bahrain and Oman.
Algerian coach Shoaib Kefi said after the match that the Iraqi team is a respected team and has players with a high talents and distinguished by the fighting spirit which made them able to stand in front of our team.
Kefi stressed that the next phase of the tournament in its second round will be decisive, pointing out that only strong and ambitious teams will qualify for the next round.
The team coach pointed out that the opportunity will be available for the qualification of teams of high readiness and only those who improve significantly will have the final word.
