Wuhan: World No. 3 Coco Gauff claimed the Wuhan Open title on Sunday after defeating fellow American and World No. 6 Jessica Pegula in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5, in the tournament final.
According to Qatar News Agency, with this victory, the 21-year-old Gauff adds the Wuhan title to her growing list of WTA 1000 triumphs, which includes wins at Cincinnati in 2023 and Beijing last year.
The Wuhan win marks the 11th career title for Gauff and her second of the 2025 season, following her triumph at Roland Garros, where she captured her second Grand Slam title.
Gauff and Pegula have also enjoyed success as a doubles team, having won five titles together, including two at the WTA 1000 level-Miami 2023 and Montreal 2025-as well as a Grand Slam title at Roland Garros 2024.
