Amman: The General Secretariat of the Arab League’s Social Affairs Sector, specifically the Family and Childhood Administration, is preparing to host a two-day international conference in Amman, Jordan, starting Wednesday. The event will focus on the role of the international community and civil society organizations in promoting and respecting the rights of Palestinian children.

According to Qatar News Agency, this conference is being organized in response to a decision made during the 42nd meeting of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs. The decision aims to advance Arab efforts at various levels in support of the Palestinian cause, particularly in light of Israeli actions in the State of Palestine that have resulted in significant violations against women and children, contravening international charters and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The conference is set to explore several important topics. These include the ongoing Israeli violations of children’s rights in Palestine, effort
s by public prosecutors to document crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against children in refugee camps, and the role of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in safeguarding children’s rights within these camps. Additionally, the conference will discuss the contributions of the international community and civil society organizations in the protection of Palestinian children’s rights and will feature testimonies from children affected by Israeli aggression.

This event is an extension of the Arab League’s initiatives to ensure legal protection for the Palestinian people. It underscores the Palestinian child’s right to safety and comprehensive care, enabling them to live in a secure environment and enjoy all rights guaranteed by both Arab and international treaties and conventions.
