Costa Rican Vice Minister Highlights Significance of HH the Amir’s Visit to Qatar.

San Jose: Vice Minister of Bilateral Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Costa Rica, Lydia Maria Peralta Cordero, has emphasized the unique and robust bilateral relations between Costa Rica and the State of Qatar.

According to Qatar News Agency, Her Excellency underscored that the two nations are marking the 20th anniversary of their diplomatic ties and the 14th anniversary of the opening of Costa Rica’s first embassy in the region, located in Qatar. During an exclusive interview, she expressed optimism that the visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to Costa Rica will further elevate these relations.

The visit is set to include the signing of multiple agreements and memoranda of understanding in sectors such as trade, culture, sports, and health. Additionally, there will be arrangements for news exchange in Spanish and the preparation of diplomats, alongside an agreement to waive visas for diplomatic and service passports. Her Excellency expressed enthusiasm about these
agreements, which aim to bolster joint cooperation.

Her Excellency highlighted Costa Rica’s longstanding ambition to foster relations with Arab nations, noting that ties with Qatar have been instrumental in achieving mutual interests and enhancing trade exchanges. She recalled the establishment of Costa Rica’s first diplomatic mission to an Arab country in Qatar in 2010, noting significant advancements since the visit of HH the Father Amir.

Additionally, the Vice Minister mentioned the potential for leveraging Qatar’s expertise in sustainable development and investment to benefit Costa Rican projects. These include the Tower of Hope at the National Children’s Hospital, renovations at Caldera Port, and the modernization of Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport, among others.

On the topic of hosting the ‘HH Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani International Anti-Corruption Excellence Award’ (ACE Award), HE Peralta Cordero expressed Costa Rica’s pride, viewing the event as an acknowledgment of the country’s d
edication to combating corruption. She concluded by explaining that the award memorial’s location in San Jose symbolizes vitality and youth, contributing to the promotion of positive values and crime prevention.
