Decrease in merchandise exports and imports observed during the month of March

Ramallah – Ma’an – The Central Bureau of Statistics reported a decrease in merchandise exports and imports observed during last March, compared to the same month in 2023.

The statistics stated in a statement today, Wednesday, that merchandise exports decreased by 18% during the month of March of 2024 compared to the month of March of 2023, reaching a value of 122.4 million US dollars.

He pointed out that exports to Israel decreased during the month of March of 2024 by 17% compared to the month of March of 2023, and exports to Israel represented 88% of the total value of exports for the month of March of 2024. Exports to the rest of the world also decreased by 23%. Compared to March 2023.

As for merchandise imports, they decreased during the month of March of 2024 by 29% compared to the month of March of 2023, reaching a value of 521.5 million US dollars.

Imports from Israel also decreased during the month of March of 2024 by 25% compared to the month of March of 2023, and imports from Israel constituted 5
8% of the total value of imports for the month of March of 2024. Imports from the rest of the world also decreased by 34% compared to March of 2023.

As for the trade balance, which represents the difference between exports and imports, it recorded a decrease in the value of the deficit by 32% during the month of March of 2024 compared to the month of March of 2023, when the value of the deficit reached 399.1 million US dollars.
