Doha: The Doha Municipality signed Thursday a twinning agreement with the Beirut Municipality in the Lebanese Republic, aimed at enhancing cooperation and exchanging expertise in municipal and developmental fields, in the presence of HE Minister of Municipality Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah, on the sidelines of the 13th Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition (AgriteQ 2026).
According to Qatar News Agency, the agreement was signed on the Qatari side by Director General of Doha Municipality Jamal Matar Al Nuaimi, while on the Lebanese side it was signed by Governor of Beirut Judge Marwan Abboud. The agreement aims to consolidate institutional cooperation between Doha Municipality and Beirut Municipality, and exchange experiences in several municipal fields, including building inspections, issuance of construction and commercial licenses, organization and management of advertising boards, and development of joint programs for experience exchange and training in construction, sanitation, awareness, and waste recycling, in addition to privatizing some municipal services and exchanging field visits.
The agreement also includes benefiting from expertise in afforestation, greening, and urban beautification, as well as enhancing monitoring programs and public health education. Both sides confirmed that the agreement represents an important step towards strengthening joint municipal work, improving the level of services provided, and benefiting from successful experiences, contributing to supporting sustainable development and improving the quality of life in both cities.
