Cairo: The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities announced the recovery of 13 artifacts from Germany and the United Kingdom, which had been taken out through illegal means.
According to Qatar News Agency, the ministry stated in a press release that the items recovered from the UK include paintings, amulets, and vessels dating back to various periods of ancient Egyptian civilization. Among these are a funerary panel from the New Kingdom and a mask from the 26th Dynasty. Meanwhile, the pieces recovered from Germany include mummy fragments and an “Ankh” amulet, a symbol of life in ancient Egyptian culture.
The statement noted that the artifacts have been transferred to the Egyptian Museum for conservation and restoration work in preparation for their display in a special exhibition at the museum.
