Cairo: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio engaged in a phone conversation to discuss the upcoming Sharm El-Sheikh summit. The summit will be co-chaired by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and US President Donald Trump.
According to Qatar News Agency, both officials examined the latest regional developments and ongoing efforts to end the Gaza conflict. They also reviewed the implementation of the first phase of the recently announced ceasefire agreement.
The US Secretary of State described the Sharm El-Sheikh summit as a unique historic event. The Egyptian Foreign Minister highlighted the necessity of following up on and implementing the ceasefire agreement during both its first and second phases. He noted that the agreement offers hope to the peoples of the region, particularly the Palestinian people.
Abdelatty emphasized that resolving the Palestinian issue and implementing the two-state solution are key to achieving stability, peace, and security in the region.
