Eight People Killed And Injured In A Shooting Accident In The US State Of New Mexico

At least two people were killed and six others were wounded in a shooting that occurred in the Red River town, New Mexico, USA.

The US police announced today that a shooting accident occurred at a gathering of motorcyclists in Red River town in the southern state of New Mexico, killing at least two people and wounding six others.

The police stated that all the injured were taken to hospitals for treatment, adding that the accident site is now safe, and there is no continuous threat to public safety.

Red River Mayor Linda Calhoun announced that all those involved in the shooting have been arrested, explaining that the motorcyclists began shooting at each other on the main street in the town, about 75 miles northeast of the state capital, “Santa Fe”, during a motorcycle rally”.

The United States recorded the highest rate of deaths from firearms among developed countries, as it recorded 49,000 gunshot deaths in 2021, compared to 45,000 last year.

This year, more than 215 mass shootings took place, according to the Armed Violence Archive.
