Brussels: The European Union on Monday railed against the new Israeli decisions and measures taken by the Israeli occupation authorities to reinforce control over the West Bank, in a prelude to building further settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.

According to Qatar News Agency, the European Union condemns the recent decisions taken by the Israeli Security Cabinet to broaden the scope of Israeli control over the West Bank, said EU Commission spokesperson Anouar El Anouni.

El Anouni added that these decisions represent another step in the wrong direction. He recalled that the EU doesn't recognize Israeli sovereignty over the Palestinian territories, which have been occupied since 1967.

He stressed that, in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, the EU reaffirms that this annexation is unlawful under international law, suggesting that any concrete action taken in this direction would be a violation of international law.
