Gaza: Medical sources in Gaza announced Tuesday that 8 people have died as a result of famine and malnutrition in the Strip over the past 24 hours. The same sources reported the deaths of a child and seven adults due to food shortages, bringing the total number of victims of famine and malnutrition to 188, including 94 children. The humanitarian crisis is expected to worsen in light of the siege and shortages of food and medical supplies resulting from the Israeli occupation’s ongoing war of starvation and extermination against the Palestinians, the closure of crossings, and the denial of most aid entry.
According to Qatar News Agency, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) warned that malnutrition among children under five had doubled between March and June as a result of the ongoing siege. The World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed that malnutrition rates in the Gaza Strip had reached alarming levels and that the deliberate siege and delays in aid had caused many lives to be lost. Nearly one in five children under five in Gaza City suffers from severe malnutrition.
Since Oct. 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation has been committing genocide in the Gaza Strip, including killing, starvation, destruction, and displacement, ignoring international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt it.
