Fifth Career Village Begins

Doha: The fifth edition of Career Village, organized by the Qatar Career Development Center at KidZania, began today in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. The event is held in collaboration with various ministries, institutions, and entities in the country.

This year’s edition, lasting for three days, is attended by representatives from economic, security, military, science and technology, education, finance and business, energy, manufacturing, telecommunications, transportation, health, media, maintenance and engineering services, retail, hospitality, and tourism sectors. Additionally, participants from KidZania provide interactive activities for students from all public schools to learn about available professions.

The Career Village aims to instill a professional culture among secondary school students in Qatar by providing an educational and entertaining experience that surpasses traditional educational and training boundaries. This initiative aligns with the goals of Qatar
‘s Third National Development Strategy to bridge the gap between education outcomes and the evolving needs of the country’s labor market, fostering a future-ready workforce.

The village offers students the opportunity to experience and explore professions firsthand, interact with real professionals, gain skills and knowledge about various professional fields, and understand the practical skills and knowledge necessary for Qatar’s evolving job market. This exposure enables students to make informed academic and career decisions early on.

Moreover, the Career Village aims to educate parents and career guidance providers about the diverse professional opportunities and career paths available to youth, enhancing their ability to make informed decisions based on reliable information. It provides comprehensive awareness services on guidance and professional development for high school students through interactive counseling sessions conducted by professional experts during the events, deepening students’ understa
nding of the role of career development services in their personal growth and potential career paths.

The Professional Village serves as a platform for interaction and collaboration among students, parents, teachers, and labor market experts, facilitating access to training, guidance, volunteering, and internal training opportunities in institutions, and other opportunities that facilitate and enrich their transition from academic life to the job market.

Director of the Qatar Career Development Center Abdullah Al Mansoori emphasized the importance of this annual event in equipping young people with the necessary practical experiences to pursue their academic and professional lives and become acquainted with the various sectors in the country. He highlighted that the Professional Village encompasses multiple work fields that aid youth in crystallizing their thoughts regarding any of the participating sectors.

During the opening ceremony, Al Mansoori said that this edition is held in partnership with the Min
istry of Education and Higher Education and KidZania entertainment city, in collaboration with various state entities and institutions, spanning three days and witnessing significant turnout. The first day is dedicated to boys, the second to girls, and the final day to students from international schools and private sector schools. Al Mansoori noted that Career Village includes over 30 entities and institutions from 12 sectors, in addition to platforms and institutions within KidZania that provide vitality, entertainment, and enhanced interaction with participating entities.

Al Mansoori also said that the city’s building and offices greatly contribute to the execution of this event as an interactive tour for students through events that equip them with the necessary experiences and awareness to continue their academic lives. He pointed out that this event targets school audiences and academic advisors from various specialties.

For his part, Assistant Undersecretary for Private Schools Affairs at the Ministr
y of Education and Higher Education Omar Abdulaziz Al Naama expressed his pleasure in partnering with the Qatar Career Development Center in this important annual event that brings together most ministries and institutions of Qatar in one place. He expressed pride in the significant development witnessed by various ministries, governmental institutions, and universities participating in the event, and the distinguished presentations they provide to educate these students.

He emphasized that professional awareness is a series of interconnected circles that begin with students becoming familiar with how to formulate their core idea to build their future map with the help of school officials, especially those responsible for student counseling and teachers, leading to the selection of what achieves their academic and practical ambitions to benefit their nation and society. Al Naama noted that Career Village is a miniature model for identifying the student’s future and selecting the field in which they wish to w
ork, whether in the gas sector, healthcare, aviation, or other sectors in the country. He highlighted that Career Village highlights the role of each sector and the services it provides, the direction it is taking, and the future needs of the state as a whole.

Visitors to the village can pose questions about the professions to help youth become more familiar with educational specialties that lead them to available career paths.

This year’s Career Village includes a range of interactive exhibitions by participating agencies and institutions offering interactive activities that guide them on various professions and work requirements, helping them identify their future professional paths based on real and reliable information. It also includes experimental learning areas that organize practical activities and simulations, providing a unique experience of different career paths, enhancing participants’ experience and professional curiosity, as well as workshops and interactive sessions presented by a selection
of experts from various fields and on various topics, from personal skill development and understanding work values to discussing specific economic sector information.
