Gaza city: Palestinian medical sources said Friday that five Palestinians, including two children, died due to famine and malnutrition. Their deaths were recorded in hospitals across the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours.
According to Qatar News Agency, the total number of victims from famine and malnutrition has risen to 322, including 123 children. The sources noted that since the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) declared a famine in Gaza on Aug. 22, 44 deaths have been recorded, including 8 children. The humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues to worsen amid the blockade and severe shortages of food and medical supplies.
The harsh famine overlaps with what has been described as a campaign of genocide launched by Israel since Oct. 7, 2023. Since Mar. 2, 2025, Israeli authorities have closed all crossings with the Strip and blocked the entry of most food and medical aid, leading to the spread of famine throughout the region.
The World Health Organization confirmed that malnutrition rates in Gaza have reached alarming levels. It stated that the deliberate blockade and delays in aid delivery have caused significant loss of life, with nearly one in five children under the age of five in Gaza City suffering from acute malnutrition.
