Freedom And Change Coalition In Sudan Talk About A New Truce For Ten Days Under Saudi-US Auspices

The “Forces of Freedom and Change” coalition in Sudan expected that a new armistice agreement would be announced today, Saturday, between the two parties of the conflict in Sudan.

Sherif Muhammad Othman, a spokesman for the coalition, said, in an interview with the “Arab World News” agency, that “the new agreement is the result of the ongoing negotiations in Jeddah under Saudi-American auspices, and it extends for ten days, and is subject to tight monitoring mechanisms by international parties, to monitor and protect humanitarian corridors, managing the distribution of humanitarian aid, and allow the maintenance and repair of health, water and electricity services in affected areas.

Othman added, “The new truce includes three principles, starting with establishing the cease-fire and declaring principles, and then comes the second stage in searching for agreed-upon mechanisms, and finally comes the third stage, which focuses on the political process of the crisis.”

Othman announced that “many Arab countries have contacted the Coalition of Forces for Freedom and Change in order to find a solution to the Sudanese crisis,” stressing that “the coalition relies on the commitment of all Arab parties and the League of Arab States to implement all agreements reached in Sudan, and to put pressure on Sudanese parties to abide by the armistice and cease-fire.

The city of Jeddah is witnessing talks between envoys of the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, sponsored by Saudi Arabia and the United States, discussing a cease-fire, extending the armistice, and opening humanitarian corridors in Sudan.
