French President Macron Announces Official Recognition of Palestinian State at UN Conference

New york: French President Emmanuel Macron announced France’s official recognition of the State of Palestine, marking a significant diplomatic move amid renewed international efforts to revive the Middle East peace process. This announcement was made during Macron’s address at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, at the opening of the high-level international conference on the peaceful resolution of the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state solution.

According to Qatar News Agency, President Macron emphasized the urgent need for peace in the region, stating the necessity to end the war and the bombings in Gaza and to halt the massacres. He highlighted that the situation is pressing everywhere and declared that France recognizes the State of Palestine in the name of peace between the Israeli and Palestinian peoples.

Macron further stated that the international community must do everything possible to preserve the viability of the two-state solution, with both states living side by side in peace and security. He also announced that the establishment of a French embassy in a future Palestinian state would be contingent upon the release of all hostages held in Gaza and the achievement of a ceasefire in the territory.

Macron’s declaration adds momentum to growing international calls for a renewed political process aimed at ending decades of conflict, amid worsening humanitarian conditions and escalating violence in the Gaza Strip.
