GCC Secretary General Welcomes US President’s Plan to End Crisis in Gaza Strip

Riyadh: Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi welcomed the plan announced by US President Donald Trump regarding ending the war in the Gaza Strip. The Secretary General emphasized the importance of international efforts aimed at resolving the crisis and highlighted the need for engagement and contribution to prevent further humanitarian issues in the region.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Secretary General stated that priorities should include establishing a ceasefire, lifting restrictions on aid, and preventing the displacement of Gaza’s population. He stressed that these should be central to any responsible international action. The success of any initiative, he noted, depends on its serious implementation, civilian protection, and creating conditions conducive to stability.

The GCC Secretary General expressed optimism about the proposed steps, suggesting they could help ensure the rights of the Palestinian people. He reaffirmed the importance of establishing their independent state on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Additionally, Albudaiwi highlighted the GCC’s readiness to collaborate with regional and international partners to support efforts that lead to a resolution in Gaza and uphold the rights of the Palestinian people, based on the two-state solution, thus achieving security and stability in the region.
