The Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) welcomed the official recognition of the State of Palestine, made by the Kingdom of Spain, the Republic of Ireland and the Kingdom of Norway.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, GCC Secretary-General Jassim Mohammed Al Bedaiwi stressed that this recognition is a pivotal and strategic step towards achieving the two-state solution, and a strong motivation for all countries to take similar steps towards recognizing the State of Palestine, which will contribute to the Palestinian people obtaining all their rights and living in peace, justice and independence, after many years of injustice, oppression, serious violations and living under the pressure of the Israeli occupation forces (IOF).
Al Bedaiwi called on the international community, with all its institutions and organizations, to play their role in supporting the Palestinian people in obtaining the full right to establish their state.
Al Bedaiwi reaffirmed the GCC’s firm position in its support
of the Palestinian cause, and reaching a solution based on ending the Israeli occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian State on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
