Skopje, – German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock welcomed on Thursday the extension of the ceasefire in Gaza, and considered the humanitarian pause in the Strip “very important.” In a statement on the sideline of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) conference in North Macedonia, Baerbock said it is clear that we must build a bridge from the ceasefire to a political process that brings a comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause.

She stressed the need to establish security in the Middle East in a way that helps the international efforts to reach a comprehensive and lasting solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

Baerbock also noted that through the extended ceasefire, more prisoners between the two sides should be exchanged, in addition to providing more humanitarian aid to the residents of Gaza such as water, medicines, and medical care.

At the last minute of the previous pause, the Israeli entity and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) announced an extension of the ceasefire for one day initially.
