Iraq Participates In The (155) Session Of The Arab League At The Level Of Foreign Ministers

Baghdad, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmad Tahseen Barwari, Iraq’s ambassador to Cairo and Iraq’s permanent representative to the League of Arab States, Ahmed Naïf al-Dulaimi, participated in the work of the 155th regular session, at the level of Arab foreign ministers, chaired by the State of Qatar, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arabic States..=

In their new session, the Arab foreign ministers will discuss a number of issues, foremost among which is joint Arab action, maintaining Arab national security, developments in the region, including the Palestinian issue, and activating the Arab peace initiative.

The agenda of the new session also included discussing the security of navigation and energy supplies in the Arab Gulf region, in addition to the nomination of the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States Ahmed Abu al-Gheit for a second term, and a unified Arab position regarding the Turkish forces’ violation of Iraqi sovereignty and Turkish interference in the internal affairs of Arab countries and support for peace and development in the Arab world, supporting peace and development in Sudan, as well as discussing how to support internally displaced people in the Arab countries, issues of international terrorism and ways to combat it.

In their meeting at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo, the Arab foreign ministers re-elected Ahmed Abdul Gheit as secretary general of the League for a new term.
