Head Of The Integrity Commission: The Battle Of Integrity Against Corruption Is Crucial And Deserves Huge Sacrifices For It

The head of the Federal Integrity Commission, Judge Haidar Hanoun, confirmed that “the battle of integrity against corruption is a fateful battle that differs from other battles, because it collides with personal benefits, and deserves to make huge sacrifices for it, stressing that the staff of the Commission, especially the Investigation Department, represents the spearhead in this battle.

During his tour in the commission’s departments, the judge urged its members to intensify their efforts in the field of combating corruption, preventing it, prosecuting its perpetrators, and preserving public money, urging not to compliment the corrupt or allow them to escape accountability and punishment, and stressing everyone against whom a judicial ruling was issued, and not to be lenient with them or pardon them.

He stressed the importance of consolidating authentic values in the hearts of the people of society and adjudicating conscience to create a generation armed with the ethics of integrity and honesty against all kinds of corruption and behaviors that are inconsistent with the ethics of the public office, pointing out that the thief of the state’s money and the people’s food cannot claim virtue, values and good morals, let alone be a patriot or leader of a value project.

He called on all political and societal actors to give priority to the interest of Iraq and reject the corrupt transgressors over public money, indicating that the Commission – with the zeal of its employees and the cooperation of citizens – is determined to emerge victorious in its battle against corruption, recover the revenues obtained from it, and put those involved behind bars.

He praised the increase in the pace of the commission’s work, one of its outputs being the implementation of unprecedented qualitative operations during last March that annihilated the corrupt, as (223) operations were carried out during which (134) suspects were arrested, indicating that this contributes to restoring the citizen’s confidence in the oversight bodies and increases the level of his cooperation with it in reporting corruption.
