As part of a joint funding initiative between them, Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) and the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (Tubitak) announced that two research proposals on cyber security were awarded, during the Qatar Foundation Annual Research Conference 2018 that was held at the Qatar National Convention Centre.

The joint funding initiative between Qatar and Turkey comes within the framework of the Academia-Industry Co-operation on Cyber Security program, launched last year, to strengthen public-private partnerships and address the cyber-safety issues of both countries.

The two awarded proposals, which were selected from 13 proposals, will focus on strengthening the cyber security resilience of the electricity grid – regarded as one of the most critical infrastructures in modern societies – in Qatar and Turkey, and on developing a cyber-threat intelligence platform to protect against emerging cyber-attacks.
