Doha: Al Gharafa advanced to the final of the 53rd edition of HH the Amir Cup after defeating Umm Salal 4-2 on Monday in the semifinal match at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium.
According to Qatar News Agency, Mohamed Montari was instrumental in Al Gharafa’s victory, scoring twice with goals in the 45+1′ and 52nd minutes. Spanish forward Joselu contributed with a goal in the 40th minute, and Algerian Yacine Brahimi successfully converted a penalty in the 45+1′ minute.
Umm Salal managed to find the net with Osman Al Yehiari’s goal in the 12th minute, followed by an own goal by Icelandic Aron Gunnarsson in the 23rd minute. Despite their efforts, Umm Salal could not overcome Al Gharafa’s dominance.
With this victory, Al Gharafa reached the final of the HH the Amir Cup for the 13th time in its history. They are set to face Al Rayyan, who secured their place in the final with a 3-0 win over Al-Ahli on Sunday.
