Baghdad Iraq participated as an observer in the Astana meetings on the Syrian issue.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Al-Sahaf said, according to the official News Agency today, Saturday, that “Iraq’s Ambassador in Moscow, Abdul Rahman Al-Husseini, will participate in the 17 Astana meetings, in Nur Al-Sultan in Kazakhstan, which Iraq is attending as an observer,” noting that “Al-Husseini will hold talks with the delegations of Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Russia, Iran, Turkey and the United Nations, and confirms Iraq’s firm position based on support for a political and peaceful solution and an emphasis on the territorial integrity of Syria.
