Iraqi PM, Commander of US Central Command Discuss Military Cooperation

Doha: Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al Sudani discussed Tuesday with US Central Command Commander Admiral Brad Cooper, who is visiting Baghdad, security and military cooperation between the two countries. During the meeting, the two sides discussed progress made in the war on terrorism and followed up on the implementation of the joint declaration issued last September regarding the schedule for the withdrawal of international coalition forces from Iraq. They reaffirmed their commitment to all provisions of the agreement.

According to Qatar News Agency, the discussions underscored the importance of ongoing collaboration to ensure stability and security in the region. The meeting also highlighted the strategic partnership between Iraq and the United States, reflecting a mutual interest in combating terrorism and ensuring regional peace.

Additionally, the conversation between the Iraqi Prime Minister and Admiral Cooper emphasized the necessity of adhering to previously agreed timelines for the withdrawal of coalition forces, a step seen as vital for Iraq’s sovereignty and long-term security planning.
