Jordan’s King and Palestinian President Address West Bank Sovereignty Concerns

Amman: Jordan's King Abdullah II met in Amman on Monday with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to discuss the latest developments in the Palestinian territories.

According to Qatar News Agency, during this meeting, King Abdullah emphasized that Jordan condemns the unlawful measures aimed at consolidating settlements and imposing Israeli sovereignty over the West Bank. He stressed that he opposes any decisions that would infringe upon the just and legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and the establishment of their independent state based on the two-state solution.

King Abdullah also highlighted the necessity of implementing the second phase of the deal to end the war in Gaza and increasing the flow of relief aid without restrictions to avert a catastrophic humanitarian situation.

President Abbas, for his part, warned against the perilous Israeli decisions intending to deepen annexation in the West Bank, expand settlements, and compromise the status of Hebron city and the Holy Ibrahimi Mosque. He further cautioned about the repercussions of these actions on the region's security and stability, reaffirming the importance of initiating the implementation of the second phase of U.S. President Donald Trump's plan to halt the war in the Gaza Strip.
