Kamal Adwan Hospital Struggles Amid Prolonged Siege, Faces Daily Loss of Life.

Gaza: The Director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, has reported that the facility is facing a critical situation due to a prolonged siege by Israeli occupation forces. For over 31 consecutive days, the hospital has been unable to provide adequate care, resulting in daily fatalities among the injured due to the absence of necessary surgical specialties.

According to Qatar News Agency, Dr. Abu Safiya stated that the Israeli occupation forces have arrested the hospital’s surgical staff and prevented surgeons from entering the facility. Additionally, a medical delegation’s attempts to reach the hospital were thwarted despite over four weeks of coordination efforts with the World Health Organization. The hospital, lacking even a single ambulance, continues to deliver minimal services, compelling doctors to perform surgeries beyond their specialties to save lives.

Dr. Abu Safiya highlighted the hospital’s inability to respond to daily distress calls due to the lack of ambulances.
On Monday, distress calls from women and children trapped under rubble went unanswered, leading to their deaths as the hospital was unable to provide assistance. Despite these challenges, the hospital remains a crucial lifeline for the injured in the area.

The Director further reported that the Israeli occupation has blocked trucks carrying essential food and medicine from reaching the hospital, forcing them to empty their supplies on the street. The blockade has led to severe shortages, with northern Gaza under a tight siege preventing access to water, food, and medicine. This has resulted in an alarming rise in malnutrition cases among children, with four cases reaching critical stages.
