The Presidency of the Kurdistan Region announced, today, Wednesday, that it has sent an official letter requesting the Independent High Commission for Federal Elections to supervise the legislative elections for the Kurdistan Parliament, to be held at the end of this year.

The Presidency of the region said in a statement, “In an official letter signed by the Chief of Staff of the Presidency of the Kurdistan Region on Monday, July 10, 2023, and it was directed to the Independent High Commission for Iraqi Elections, and after sending a copy of it to the relevant parties, the Presidency of the Kurdistan Region called on the Commission to express its willingness to supervise the regional parliament elections.

It added, “Reference was made in the letter to Regional Order No. (90) on the 26th of March of the year 2023, in which it was decided to hold the Kurdistan Parliament elections on the 18th of November of the year 2023, and for this purpose the Independent High Electoral Commission was asked to prepare to supervise the elections on time, or with the provincial council elections scheduled to take place on December 18 of the current year.
