Kuwait to Host FANA’s 51st General Assembly on Monday

The Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) will host the 51st General Assembly conference of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) on Monday, with the participation of delegations and representatives of the news agencies, members of the Federation.

Qatar News Agency will participate in the conference with a delegation headed by HE Director-General of QNA Ahmed bin Saeed Al Rumaihi.

The one-day conference will discuss a range of issues and challenges facing news agencies in the Arab world and ways to enhance media cooperation between FANA member states.

The conference aims to exchange experiences and develop media mechanisms in light of current technological developments to achieve greater coordination between news agencies and enhance their role in covering regional and international events and developments.

The conference comes within the framework of FANA’s keenness to support and enhance the joint Arab media process and ensure the provision of accurate and reliable news to Arab societies amid the accelerating
challenges facing traditional and digital media.

In the same context, Secretary General of FANA Dr. Fareed Ayar said that the FANA’s 51st General Assembly conference will discuss the development of Arab news agencies and their work mechanisms, especially with regard to combating fake and misleading news.

Ayar commended the role played by Arab news agencies and media institutions in refuting news offensive to Arab countries and the work of these agencies in this field.

The annual FANA General Assembly conference is an opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences among member news agencies and discuss the challenges facing Arab media, including increasing competition from digital media and social platforms.

Established in 1975, FANA aims to strengthen collaboration and integration among Arab news agencies, enhancing media coverage to keep pace with global news events and trends.

FANA’s goals include promoting news from the Arab world, creating a distinct Arab media identity on the international stage, and
encouraging members to adopt advanced technologies to meet the demands of the digital era.
