Doha: Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has condemned the Israeli forces' incursion into Lebanese territories and the abduction of a Lebanese citizen from his home in the town of Al Habariya, in the Nabatieh Governorate of southern Lebanon.
According to Qatar News Agency, in a press statement on Monday, Salam condemned in the strongest terms the Israeli forces' abduction of a Lebanese citizen following an incursion into Lebanese territories. This constitutes a blatant attack on Lebanon's sovereignty, a violation of the cessation of hostilities agreement, and a breach of international law, he added. The Lebanese Prime Minister also demanded the release of all Lebanese prisoners held in Israeli prisons.
Earlier Monday, Israeli forces abducted a Lebanese citizen after an Israeli military force entered the town of Al Habariya on foot. It is worth noting that on Nov. 27, 2024, a ceasefire agreement in southern Lebanon came into effect, stipulating the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the border villages and towns in southern Lebanon within 60 days. Following this, the Beirut government agreed to extend the deadline until February 18.
However, Israeli forces remained in five locations and continue their violations, which have exceeded 7,000 airspace violations and more than 2,400 military activities in the UNIFIL area of operations in southern Lebanon since last November.
