Lebanon Files New Complaint to Security Council Against Israeli Entity.

BEIRUT: The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Monday that it has instructed Lebanon’s permanent mission to the United Nations to file a new complaint before the UN Security Council, in response to the repeated targeting of the Lebanese army by the Israeli entity, the latest of which was the attack that targeted yesterday, Monday, an army center in the town of Mari in the Hasbaya district in the south of the country, which led to the killing of two soldiers and the injury of three others.

According to Qatar News Agency, the ministry said in a statement that Lebanon called in its complaint on the member states of the Security Council to condemn the repeated Israeli attacks on the army, and consider them a flagrant violation of international law, the UN Charter and international resolutions, especially Resolution 1701, as the Lebanese army constitutes the main pillar in implementing this resolution and ensuring sustainable security and stability in southern Lebanon, by extending the authority of th
e Lebanese state over all its territories and internationally recognized borders, in close cooperation with the UNIFIL forces.

Lebanon stressed that targeting the army undermines international efforts to implement Resolution 1701, stressing that ensuring the safety of the army and supporting it to carry out its duties in full is an urgent necessity to enhance security on the Lebanese border.

The UN Security Council unanimously adopted Resolution 1701 in 2006, which calls for a complete cessation of combat operations in Lebanon, and demands that the Israeli entity immediately cease all its offensive military operations and withdraw all its forces from southern Lebanon.
